Companies and business name re-registration extended New expiry date is 31 July 2021

1. The deadline for the digital re-registration for Fiji incorporated companies, foreign companies registered in Fiji and business names has been extended yet again. The deadline is now 31 July 2021, an extension of four months from 31 March 2021.

2. The consequences of failing to apply for re-registration are severe, particularly for Fiji incorporated companies. Fiji incorporated companies will cease to exist on 1 August 2021 and their property will vest in the Registrar of Companies or Government (depending on whether those assets are held on trust). Our 10 July 2020 Legal Alert briefly discussed the consequences of failing to re-register.

3. We understand that the majority of our clients have applied for re-registration. However, you should consider the implications for your business if your customers (particularly credit customers), suppliers, landlords, tenants (etc) fail to re-register by the new deadline.
