Florence graduated with a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Otago, New Zealand in 1984. She was admitted to the High Court of New Zealand in 1984, to the roll of Solicitors of England and Wales in 1991 and to the High Court of Fiji in 1993.

Florence worked in private practice in Dunedin, New Zealand between 1984 and 1987, and then in Glasgow, Scotland until 1993 principally in advisory, general property and commercial documentation work.

In 1993 Florence returned to Fiji and joined the office of the Attorney-General, where she advised Government departments and public sector organisations. In 1995 she headed the Fiji Law Reform Commission and oversaw significant legislative reform in the insurance, family and criminal law areas during her four-year term.

Florence joined Munro Leys in 1999, critically reviewing and reorganising its intellectual property and real property practice areas. She now practises in the Commercial and Intellectual Property Groups of the firm, with a particular emphasis on real property, foreign investment, tourism and immigration law.  She is also a  member of INTA (International TradeMark Association).
